0- <br />4 <br />eca~ 12 w.r_ 885 <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br />Of <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />For <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />MONDAY, AUGUST 28, 1989 <br />A special meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of <br />Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 7:30 P. M. on Monday, August <br />28th, 1989, in the Commissioners' room on the second floor of the County <br />Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, the same being <br />the time, date and place specified in the call issued by Chairman Albert L. <br />Cox. Those present were: Commissioners Albert L. Cox, John R. Dossenbach, <br />Jr., Bertha L. Matthews, William C. Stafford, Jr. and Gordon A. Wicker. <br />Chairman Cox declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the <br />transaction of business. <br />Chairman Albert L. Cox presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The Chairman recognized Mr. Don Buie. Mr. Buie introduced the <br />members of the Parks & Recreation Commission who were present, namely, Dr. <br />Lynn Smith, Mr. Charles Ingram, Mr. Charles Bowers, Mr. Gary Moore, Mr. <br />Steve Garrison, Mr. Ronell Dowdy and Mr. Don McLaughlin, Director. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., who is the Commissioner who serves on <br />the Recreation Commission, thanked the members of the Recreation Commission <br />for being present and for their service. <br />There next followed a discussion between the members of the two <br />boards concerning revenues and expenditures and the maintenance programs <br />and recreational programs sponsored by the Commission. No formal action <br />was taken and following the extended discussion the members of the Board of <br />Commissioners thanked the members of the Parks & Recreation Commission for <br />their attendance and discussion. <br />The Board next considered the tax release report prepared by the <br />Tax Collector. The July report is attached to these minutes and by this <br />reference made a part hereof. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved <br />that the releases and refunds set out in the report be authorized and <br />approved. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a <br />-1- <br />
