~oo~ 12 P~cr 905
The Chairman led the motion carried unal0mously.
Mr. Crissman next presented the Tax Releases/Refunds for
the month of August. The August report is attached to these
minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Commissioner
Dossenbach moved that the releases and refunds set out in the
report be authorized and approved. Commissioner Matthews
seconded the motion and upon a vote the results were as
follows:.
Aye: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox
Nay: None
The Chairman ruled the motion carried unanimously.
The Chairman recognized Mr. Bob Joyce, Economic Development
Coordinator, who recommended disposing of two parcels of surplus
property and some surplus equipment used by the water system.
The two parcels of land are under the water tanks built by Lee
County with EDA funds. The surplus pieces of equipment are two,
ten thousand gallon storage tanks acquired when the County
purchased the Owl's Nest and Trail's End water system. The
tanks were used for well storage as back-up supply. He
recommended the County deed the parcels to the City of Sanford
and that both tanks be sold at the next surplus sale. After
discussion, the Board requested the County Attorney to obtain
documentation on these two parcels.
Mr. Joyce then advised of two parcels of land that were on
the list to be sold at auction and were removed. The two
parcels are lots 41 and 44 Parkwood II Subdivision. The deed to
Lee County contained a twenty year "re-enter and reclaim"
provision and the County does not have a fee simple interest.
The property was for the use of the Water System and when no
longer used for that purpose, would be reclaimed by the
grantors, Mr. & Mrs. Sandy Godfrey. The wells that were located
on these lots are dry wells and cannot be repaired and the Water
System cannot use the property for any other purpose. He
recommended deeding the property back to the Godfreys.
Commissioner Dossenbach moved that the property be deeded
back to the original owners. Commissioner Stafford seconded the
motion and upon a vote the results were as follows:
Aye: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford Wicker and Cox
Nay: None
The Chairman ruled the motion had been unanimously
adopted.
The Chairman advised the next item on the agenda was Item
#6 - Consideration of an Agreement with the West Sanford
Volunteer Fire Department for Lease-Purchase of Pumper Truck.
The Chairman recognized Mr. Tommy Smith, Fire Chief of the
4
