ThO
e other, on which
Mr. Stafford and Mr. Wicker serve have been looking at the
former Lee County Hospital Building in terms of improvements
that would be required to move agencies from the Wilrik Building
to there. Mr. Wicker and Mr. Stafford asked for this item to be
included on the agenda to discuss the properties owned by the
County and the plans for them.
Commissioner Stafford advised that they have had numerous
contacts from different groups on the Woodland Avenue property
and his position is that property should be sold. He would like
for the Board to consider disposal by auction of this property.
Discussion followed with Mr. Bob Joyce, Economic Developer,
about the possibility of his listing the property. Mr. Joyce
agreed to discuss this with the County Attorney. It was agreed
that Mr. Joyce, would work with Mr. Stafford to come up with a
fair market price on the Woodland Avenue property.
Commissioner Dossenbach moved that the Woodland Avenue, the
Evergreen Street and Martin Street properties be declared as
surplus properties. They need direction before they can
proceed.
Considerable discussion followed on the condition of the
the present building and the possibility of moving additional
offices to the old hospital building. It was agreed that before
a decision could be reached on either of these two buildings the
issue of the courthouse and jail facilities has to be
resolved.
Chairman Cox gave the Clerk a copy of a letter he wrote to
the Lee County Board of commissioners dated September 28, 1989
and was printed in the Sanford Hearld. He asked Mrs. Cahall to
get a copy from the County Attorney of the letter sent to him
from the Lee County Bar Association and record both letters in
the minutes of this meeting. Copies of these two letters are
attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part
hereof.
The Chairman advised the next item on the agenda was
consideration of Budget Amendment #10/02/89/05. Copy is
attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part
hereof. Assistant County Manager Beatrice Fields reviewed the
Budget Amendment.
