Mr. Mike Sturdivant A( Soil on 9 rvatio appeared before <br />the Board. The Chairman advised this was not an agenda item, <br />but was under reports/information regarding a letter from <br />Governor Martin. Mr. Sturdivant reported that Lee County has <br />received $50,000 to be used for the enhancement or for <br />improvement of water quality through the Soil Conservation <br />Service. <br />Mr. Leonard Barefoot, County Planner, appeared before the <br />Board and advised that the Planning Board has received several <br />petitions requesting that the Division of Highways add certain <br />streets located in Quail Ridge Subdivision to the Division of <br />Highways system for maintenance. Those roads are Kingfisher <br />Road, Warbler Road, Lark Lane, Martin Circle, Patridge Circle, <br />and Bobwhite Lane. Several months ago the Division of Highways <br />received petitions for several streets located in Quail Ridge <br />and did accept them onto their system for maintenance. The <br />above streets complete the Quail Ridge Subdivision streets being <br />requested for maintenance. The Planning Board recommended <br />unanimously that the above streets mentioned be forwarded to <br />Aberdeen with a favorable recommendation. <br />Commissioner Matthews moved that the Board accept the <br />recommendation of the Planning Board and that the Board <br />recommend approval of the petitions and forward them to the <br />Department of Transportation in Aberdeen for favorable <br />consideration. Commissioner Stafford seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Barefoot introduced Mrs. Leisa Powell, Assistant <br />Planner to the Board. Mr. Barefoot advised that in his absence <br />Mrs. Powell will be responsible for all planning functions. The <br />Chairman on behalf of the Board welcomed Mrs. Powell. <br />The Chairman advised that the next item on the agenda was <br />Consideration of the disposition of surplus real property: <br />A. Woodland Avenue Property <br />B. Evergreen Street Property <br />C. Other Property <br />County Manager Cowan distributed copies of descriptions of <br />the above property. The Woodland Avenue property is the old <br />Health Department Building. The Evergreen Street Property <br />consists of two small homes, one occupied by Youth Services and <br />the other one was the Health Director's office. The Martin <br />street property is the old Social Services Building and has been <br />vacant for approximately five years. Per the Board's <br />instructions, he has been meeting with two committees. Mr. <br />Wicker serves on both of those committees. One is looking at <br />the Wilrik Building in terms of improvements that have to be <br />7 <br />
