a6v 12 ~Arc <br />ME, <br />the matter and repo, to the Board at the next :eeting. <br />The Chairman advised that the next item on the agenda was <br />consider an Agreement with the Division of Home Health Aids <br />between Hospice of Lee County, Inc. and the Department for the <br />Aging. County Manager Cowan referred to a copy of a contract <br />that the Department of Aging has in place with several of the <br />health related organizations in Lee County. It is a standard <br />contract and provides that the Department of the Aging will <br />contract, in this case with Hospice, to provide Home Health Aid <br />on a request basis. This contract was produced by Mr. Hoyle's <br />office several years ago when the program, which is funded by <br />Title 5, was started. Hospice is required to have a contract to <br />obtain certification for Medicare. <br />Commissioner Matthews moved to approve the Contract for <br />the provision of Home Health Aides between Hospice of Lee <br />County, Inc. and the Lee County Department for the Aging. <br />Commissioner Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman advised the motion carried unanimously. <br />The County Manager then presented an application for <br />operating Assistance from the N. C. Department of Transportation <br />for a release of funds from the Elderly and Handicapped <br />Transportation Assistance Program. In a recent session of the <br />General Assembly there was an additional source of money <br />appropriated for transportation for the elderly and handicapped <br />population. Lee County's portion of that money is approximately <br />$15,000. The Department for the Aging is the lead agency for <br />the Transportation Development Plan. Upon receiving this <br />information Mrs. Adams, Director Department for the Aging, <br />called a meeting of the various representatives of the TDP to <br />talk about an allocation recommendation for these funds. <br />Lee County Department for the Aging would receive approximately <br />$6,369, Lee County Industries approximately $4,900 and the <br />Center for Independent Living approximately $4,700. <br />Commissioner Stafford complimented whoever was responsible <br />for originating this request for keeping up with what is going <br />on in state government. <br />Commissioner Wicker moved that the application be approved. <br />The motion was seconded by Commissioner Stafford and upon a vote <br />the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion carried unanimously. <br />4 <br />
