e~pK 13 P4S 1 <br />MI .,TES OF THE REGULAR MEETIN h <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, December 18, 1989 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 7:00 P.M. <br />on Monday,.December 18, 1989, in the Superior Courtroom Lee <br />County Courthouse, 1408 South Horner Boulevard, Sanford, North <br />Carolina pursuant to the Notice of the Public Hearing <br />published in the Sanford Hearld. Those present were: <br />Commissioners Albert L. Cox, John R. Dossenbach, Jr. Bertha L. <br />Matthews, William C. Stafford, Jr. and Gordon A. Wicker. <br />Chairman Wicker declared a quorum present and the meeting open <br />for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by County Attorney, K. R. <br />Hoyle. <br />Chairman Wicker welcomed everyone to this meeting. He <br />advised the Board advertised that it would hold a Public <br />Hearing at 7:00 P.M. on the subject of the proper site or <br />location for the Lee County Courthouse and Jail. The Board <br />agreed to have Mr. K. R. Hoyle, County Attorney conduct the <br />meeting. <br />The Chairman turned the meeting over to Mr. Hoyle. <br />Mr. Hoyle advised that pursuant to the action of the Board <br />at this hearing the discussion will be limited to what is the <br />proper site for the courthouse and jail. The 25 people who have <br />registered at the places provided will be recognized to speak. <br />Each one will be allotted their three minutes. This will not be <br />a question and answer session, but is an opportunity for those <br />who want the right to address the board on the site of the <br />courthouse to be present and state their views. The people who <br />signed up have been listed in alphabetical order. If someone <br />has a handicap or compelling personal reason for not wanting to <br />wait to be called in alphabetical order, they can be moved up on <br />the list. <br />The following people spoke in favor of the present site: <br />Ms. Cynthia Adams <br />Mr. James Vann Comer <br />1 <br />
