LEE COUNTY 028 <br />• Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />RESOLUTION <br />IN SUPPORT OF IMPROVEMENTS <br />ONUS1 <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners recognizes the importance of <br />good roads within Lee County; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Lee County Board of Commissioners to promote the <br />development of roads by improving roads to serve local residents; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners has received a request from the <br />North Carolina Department of Transportation to improve a section of southbound US 1; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation is considering the paving <br />of a section of southbound US 1 from 0.9 miles north of Colon Road to the bridge over <br />Colon Road; and <br />• WHEREAS, an accident history report indicates several accidents involving run off's on <br />this section of road in wet conditions; and <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation recommends increasing <br />the pavement slope on this section of road to improve the roadway surface drainage; <br />and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Resolved that the Lee County Board of Commissioners <br />supports the recommendation of the North Carolina Department of Transportation to <br />increase pavement slope and resurface southbound US 1 from approximately 0.9 miles <br />north of Colon Road to the bridge over Colon Road. <br />Adopted this day of November 2008. <br />Robert H.
