Caldwell, Jr. <br />Executive Vice President and General Counsel <br />North Carolina Sheriffs' Association <br />DATE: October 16, 2008 <br />RE: Mutual Aid Agreements Between Law Enforcement <br />Agencies in North Carolina <br />Earlier this year, at a meeting of the Association's Mutual Aid <br />Committee, the Committee discussed various issues related to Mutual Aid <br />agreements between law enforcement agencies in North Carolina. <br />The Mutual Aid Committee and the Executive Committee asked <br />that I send a memo to all Sheriffs with a reminder that: <br />A copy of the Department of Justice publication entitled "Mutual Aid <br />Agreements Between Law Enforcement Agencies in North <br />Carolina" is contained in the three volume resource manual <br />provided to all Sheriffs. This mutual aid publication is in Volume ll, <br />Section IV, behind tab D. This publication explains the law <br />governing Sheriff's offices and other law enforcement agencies <br />entering into Mutual Aid Agreements, and it includes sample forms <br />that can be utilized by Sheriffs and other agencies. <br />• can vrerrTer. <br />86 <br />•'2g22 -20%f* <br />2.
