B. <br />_ Information <br />Meeting Date: July 21, 2008 Action Item <br />XX Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: Scrap Tire Recycling & Disposal Contract <br />DEPARTMENT: General Services - Waste Collections Division <br />CONTACT PERSON: Joseph T. Cherry, Solid Waste Superintendent <br />REQUEST: Renewal contract with Central Carolina Holdings, LLC, covering the <br />recycling and disposal of scrap tires generated within Lee County. <br />SUMMARY: Contract will cover the recycling and/or disposal of scrap tires <br />generated within Lee County for a period of five (5) years. Tipping <br />fees are $51.00/ton for tires delivered and $60.00/ton for tires <br />picked up from tire dealers. <br />BUDGET IMPACT: Lee County generates approximately 800 tons of tires annually. <br />Based on this figure we could expect to spend approximately <br />$42,000.00 during FY 2008-09. $50,000.00 was requested in the <br />FY 2008-09 budget to cover these costs.
