The Clerk is directed, should a qualifying upset bid be <br />received within ten (10) days from the publication of said notice <br />in accordance with G.S. 160A-269, to re-advertise the offer at <br />the increased upset bid amount. <br />The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cox and upon a vote <br />the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Joyce was authorized to re-advetise the Health and <br />social services Buildings for an additional 30 days and to <br />solicit bidders. <br />Commissioner Stafford reported the Solid Waste Committee <br />held a regional meeting with Chatham, Harnett and Moore Counties <br />and they have agreed to meet again in approximately 30 days. He <br />would like to place on the next agenda of the Board the local <br />Sanford, Broadway, Lee County Solid Waste Committee <br />recommendations and would like authority for the Committee to <br />hold a Public Hearing on February 28th at 7:30 P.M. at the <br />courthouse. <br />The County Attorney advised he had been contacted by <br />representatives of the Cameron Fire Department to initiate <br />procedures for a Tax District. Mr. Hoyle informed the Board of <br />the two methods involved in this. (1) By petition of 35% of the <br />property owners and the Board calls an election for a vote in <br />that area or (2) The Board could create a Service District by <br />having a report established and take action based on that report. <br />Mr. Hoyle asked for the Board's feeling on this before he advised <br />the representatives of the Cameron Fire Department. After <br />discussion, the Board advised Mr. Hoyle they would prefer the <br />petition method. <br />Commissioner Cox advised the Board of a fabric that he felt <br />could be used on the windows at the Art Center on Steele street <br />to improve the appearance. The Board agreed to have Commissioner <br />Cox and the County Manager to look into this. <br />The Board next discussed the proposed Zoning ordinance for <br />Lee County. Commissioner Stafford moved to instruct Mr. Leonard <br />Barefoot, County Planner, to ask the Planning Board to submit, as <br />soon as possible, the proposed Zoning Ordinance for the Board's <br />consideration.
