36 <br />MINOTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING P <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, February 5, 1990 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 9:30 A.M. <br />on Monday, February 5, 1990, in the Commissioners' room on the <br />second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, <br />Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were: Commissioners <br />Albert L. Cox, John R. Dossenbach, Jr. Bertha L. Matthews, <br />William C. Stafford, Jr. and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman <br />Wicker declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the <br />transaction of business. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Commissioner Dossenbach. <br />The Board considered the minutes for the January 16th <br />meeting. Corrections were made to the draft of the minutes. <br />After the corrections were made,.Commissioner Matthews moved <br />that the draft as amended be adopted as the official minutes for <br />said meeting and that they be recorded. Commissioner Cox <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford and Wicker. <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion carried unanimously. <br />Ms. Gloria Thomas, U.S Census Tester and Recruiter in Lee <br />County was recognized. Ms. Thomas advised that she is in the <br />process of giving programs telling people about the census and <br />how important it is to the community, since a lot of funds that <br />are received by the County come from the statistics that are <br />gathered from the census. She is also recruiting applicants to <br />work the census and would appreciate any referrals from the <br />Board since it is very important that they have good workers in <br />each community. She is recruiting approximately 281 workers in <br />Lee County. She asked for the Board's help by speaking publicly <br />to people about the census and forming a Census Awareness <br />Committee. <br />The Board next considered matters relating to the Sanford <br />Lee County Airport commission. <br />1 <br />
