Commissioner Cox asked the County Manager to make copies available of the Funding Information provided to him for the Board to review by the next meeting. County Manager Cowan advised that Mr. Bristow asked him to draft a letter for the Chairman's signature regarding an application to HUD for a Ladies Group Home to be located in Lee County. Chairman Wicker advised that this was a new program similar to the home for men on Hillcrest. The County Manager was asked to check on this to see if a home was located in Harnett County and to ask Mr. Elmore, of the Lee-Harnett Mental Health Board, to provide a letter with information on this as well as the potential cost to the County. Commissioner Matthews moved to appoint Ms. Alice Griffin to serve on the Mid-Carolina Private Industry Council. Commissioner Cox seconded the motion and upon a vote the results were as follows: Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford and Wicker Nay: None The Chairman ruled the motion carried unanimously. The County Manager reported he had received some correspondence from a local company concerning recycled paper. He also contacted the Alamance County Recycling Director and asked him to write a letter on their recycled stationery and to send him paper that they use for copying and computer printouts. He is obtaining information on the affects of recycled paper on record retention and will give a more detailed report at the next meeting. Commissioner Cox advised that the Chairman of the Recreation Commission has received a letter of resignation from Dr. Lynn Smith. Commissioner Cox has approached Mr. Tommy Davenport who has agreed to serve on that Board. Commissioner Cox moved that Mr. Tommy Davenport be appointed as the replacement for Dr. Smith on the Recreation Commission. Commissioner Stafford seconded the motion and upon a vote the results were as follows: Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford and Wicker Nay: None The Chairman ruled the motion carried unanimously. The County Manager was asked to notify Mr. Davenport of his appointment and to advise him of a special meeting of the Recreation Commission tomorrow night.
