Commissioner Cox asked the <br />County Manager to make copies available of the Funding <br />Information provided to him for the Board to review by the next <br />meeting. <br />County Manager Cowan advised that Mr. Bristow asked him <br />to draft a letter for the Chairman's signature regarding an <br />application to HUD for a Ladies Group Home to be located in Lee <br />County. Chairman Wicker advised that this was a new program <br />similar to the home for men on Hillcrest. The County Manager was <br />asked to check on this to see if a home was located in Harnett <br />County and to ask Mr. Elmore, of the Lee-Harnett Mental Health <br />Board, to provide a letter with information on this as well as <br />the potential cost to the County. <br />Commissioner Matthews moved to appoint Ms. Alice Griffin to <br />serve on the Mid-Carolina Private Industry Council. Commissioner <br />Cox seconded the motion and upon a vote the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion carried unanimously. <br />The County Manager reported he had received some <br />correspondence from a local company concerning recycled paper. <br />He also contacted the Alamance County Recycling Director and <br />asked him to write a letter on their recycled stationery and to <br />send him paper that they use for copying and computer printouts. <br />He is obtaining information on the affects of recycled paper on <br />record retention and will give a more detailed report at the next <br />meeting. <br />Commissioner Cox advised that the Chairman of the <br />Recreation Commission has received a letter of resignation from <br />Dr. Lynn Smith. Commissioner Cox has approached Mr. Tommy <br />Davenport who has agreed to serve on that Board. Commissioner <br />Cox moved that Mr. Tommy Davenport be appointed as the <br />replacement for Dr. Smith on the Recreation Commission. <br />Commissioner Stafford seconded the motion and upon a vote the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion carried unanimously. <br />The County Manager was asked to notify Mr. Davenport of his <br />appointment and to advise him of a special meeting of the <br />Recreation Commission tomorrow night. <br />Commissioner Cox moved that the Board go into executive <br />session to discuss personnel and land acquisition.
