. 13 75 <br />as a species with e environmental consequences of that <br />success, and <br />WHEREAS, we have within our resources the technological <br />capabilities to restore the earth to its natural wonder, once <br />again, and <br />WHEREAS, recycling is a practical step in which all people <br />in all places can contribute and make a difference, benefiting <br />society by extending the life of costly landfills, decreasing <br />the need for tax increases, raising funds for benevolent causes, <br />and improving the quality of life for this and future <br />generations. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the County of Lee this 2nd <br />day of April, 1990 that the month of April, 1990 be and hereby <br />is designated as "Earth Month", and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we pledge our best efforts to <br />promote recycling as a matter of conscience. <br />Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the Resolution carried unanimously. <br />The Board next considered a Resolution to designate the <br />week of April 7 to 14 as National Community Development Week. <br />Mr. Bob Joyce, Economic Development Director was recognized. <br />Mr. Joyce advised that the CDGP Program has meant a lot to Lee <br />County in community revitalization and economic development. <br />Commissioner Cox moved for adoption of the following <br />resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the week of April 7-14, 1990 has been designated <br />as National Community Development Week and Lee County is a <br />participant in the Community Development Block grant (CDBG) <br />program which funds a myriad of social service, economic <br />development and housing programs in this community, and <br />WHEREAS, in Lee County and in communities throughout the <br />nation, sixteen years of Community Development Block Grant <br />program funding has developed a strong working network of <br />relationships between this local government residents of <br />Community Development target neighborhoods and the many <br />nonprofit agencies which provide services and help make possible <br />our commitment to those neighborhoods and <br />WHEREAS, Lee County recognized that the Community <br />Development Block Grant program is a partnership of Federal, <br />local government, nonprofit and community efforts, and that the <br />services funded by the Federal CDBG program, administered by the <br />4 <br />
