coos 13 ~r,c 2"50 <br />ARTICLE XII <br />BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br />Section 1. Board of Adjustment Created. <br />A Board of Adjustment is hereby created. <br />Section 2. Number of Members; Appointments. <br />The Board shall consist of five (5) regular and two (2) alternate mem- <br />bers who shall be citizens and residents of the areas affected by the Lee <br />County Zoning Ordinance and shall be appointed by the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners. <br />Section 3. Length of Terms. <br />Initial terms of office for regular members shall be as follows, <br />One <br />(1) <br />regular member appointed for a <br />term of one (1) year. <br />Two <br />(2) <br />regular members <br />appointed <br />for <br />terms of two (2) years. <br />One <br />(1) <br />alternate member <br />appointed <br />for <br />a term of two (2) years. <br />Two <br />(2) <br />regular members <br />appointed <br />for <br />terms of three (3) years. <br />One <br />(1) <br />alternate member <br />appointed <br />for <br />a term of three (3) years. <br />Their successors shall be appointed for terms of three (3) years. No <br />member shall serve more than two (2) successive terms. <br />Section 4. Vacancies. <br />Vacancies occurring for reasons other than expiration of terms shall be <br />filled as they occur for the period of the unexpired term. <br />Section 5. Officers, Rules, and Regulations. <br />The Board shall elect such officers and adopt such rules and regulations <br />for its own government as it deems necessary to carry out the provisions of <br />this article. <br />Section 6. Conduct of Hearing. <br />All hearings of the Board shall be open to the public. The Board shall <br />keep minutes of its proceedings, showing the vote of each member upon each <br />question, and the absence or failure of any member to vote. <br />63 <br />
