6ooK. 13 ~s 189 <br />ARTICLE IV <br />INTERPRETATION OF WORDS AND TERMS <br />For the purpose of interpreting this ordinance, certain words and terms <br />used are herein defined. Except as defined herein, all other words used in <br />this ordinance shall have their customary dictionary definition. <br />Section 1. Word and Term Interpretations. <br />Words used in the present tense include the future tense, and words <br />used in the future tense include the present tense. <br />Words used in the singular number include the plural and words used in <br />the plural number include the singular. <br />The word "person" includes a firm, association, organization, partner- <br />ship, corporation, trust, and company, as well as an individual. <br />The word "lot" includes the words "plot", "parcel", or "tract". <br />The word "building" includes the word "structure". <br />The word "shall" is always mandatory. <br />The word "may" is permissive. <br />The words "used" or "occupied" as applied to any land or building shall <br />be construed to include the words "intended, arranged, or designed to be <br />used or occupied". <br />The term "zoning map" shall mean the official zoning map(s) of Lee <br />County, North Carolina. <br />Section 2. Definitions. <br />For the purpose of interpreting the Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, <br />certain words and terms used herein are defined. <br />Access Lot: A lot having lake or river frontage and road frontage which <br />offers lake frontage and/or lake access to those lots not having direct lake <br />frontage within lakefront subdivisions. <br />Access Corridors: A strip of land lying between the side lot boundary lines <br />of lakefront lots offering access to lots one (1) lot depth away from the <br />water's edge. <br />Accessory Use: A use customarily incidental and subordinate to the princi- <br />pal use or building and location on the same lot with such principal use or <br />building. <br />Airport Hazards Any structure, tree, or use of land , hich obstructs the <br />airspace required for, or is otherwise hazardous to, the flight of aircraft <br />landing or taking off at the airport. <br />2 <br />
