Boos 13 Pts[ 188 <br />ZONING ORDINANCE <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />An ordinance establishing zoning regulations in Lee County, North Caro- <br />lina, and providing for the administration, amendment, and enforcement of the <br />ordinance and providing for and defining the duties and powers of a Board of <br />Adjustment in accordance with the provisions of North Carolina General Sta- <br />tute Chapter 153A, Part 3, and for the repeal of all ordinances in conflict <br />herewith. <br />This ordinance is designed to encourage the protection and development <br />of the various physical elements of the County in accordance with a compre- <br />hensive plan of land use and population density and for the purpose of <br />promoting the public health, safety, morals, and general welfare; promoting <br />the orderly development- of the County, preventing the overcrowding of land; <br />and regulating the location and use of structures and land for trade indus- <br />try, residences, or other purposes, except farming. <br />ARTICLE I <br />AUTHORITY AND ENACTMENT CLAUSE <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Lee County, North Carolina, pur- <br />suant to the authority granted by Article 18, Chapter 153A of the General <br />Statutes of North Carolina, does hereby ordain and enact into law the fol- <br />lowing ;articles and Sections. <br />ARTICLE II <br />TITLE <br />The ordinance shall be known as The Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, <br />North Carolina and may be cited as the Zoning Ordinance. <br />ARTICLE III <br />JURISDICTION <br />This ordinance shall apply to all lands within the areas designated as <br />zoning districts on the official zoning map(s) by the Board of County Commis- <br />sioners of Lee County. <br />The provisions of this ordinance shall <br />not apply to bona <br />fide <br />farms. <br />This ordinance does not impose nor exercise <br />any controls over <br />crop <br />lands, <br />timber lands, pasture lands, orchards, idle or <br />other farm lands, <br />nor over any <br />farm house, barn, poultry house, or other f <br />arm buildings, incl <br />uding <br />tenant <br />or other houses for persons working on said <br />farms, as long as <br />such <br />houses <br />shall be in the same ownership as the farm a <br />nd located on the <br />farm. <br />Resi- <br />dences for non-farm use or occupancy and <br />other non-farm u <br />ses shall be <br />subject to the provisions of this ordinance. <br />
