sooK 13 Pn E 320
Commissioner Cox asked why Lee County Industries does not
just give the bus to the County. Mr. Cowan replied that it is
restrictive because it was bought with Department of
Transportation Section 16B Funds. All the vans that were
purchased in the Department for the Aging were purchased through
the same program. They were actually purchased through Lee
County Industries and then leased to Lee County. The Department
for the Aging is required to pay 10% of the cost. Commissioner
Cox moved to refer this matter to the Finance Committee for
their recommendation and for Mr. Cowan to contact the DOT to see
if we can obtain title to the bus. Commissioner Dossenbach
seconded the motion and upon a vote the results were as
follows:
Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Stafford and Wicker
Nay: None
The Chairman ruled the motion carried unanimously.
The Chairman recognized Mr. Michael Matochik, Library
Director who asked the Board's consideration of a job
reclassification for a Librarian II to replace the Assistant
Director position at the Library. The two major reasons for the
reclassification are: (1) the library's growing need for
expanded and better reference service and (2) with the salary
differential they will be able to add to the staff (through an
employment service) an office manager who will perform regular
secretarial duties which would have fallen on the Assistant
Director. With the proposed reclassification a salary
differential of $3,773 is available for an office manager
position. In addition other salary funds are available from the
leave without pay of the outreach Specialist. Commissioner Cox
moved to approve the request. Commissioner Stafford seconded
the motion and upon a vote the results were as follows:
Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Stafford and Wicker
Nay: None
The Chairman ruled the motion carried unanimously.
The Board next considered approval of the sale of surplus
property. Commissioner Dossenbach moved for adoption of the
following Resolution:
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the County of Lee
adopted a resolution expressing its desire to dispose of certain
surplus property of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Board received an offer for the purchase of
said property in the amount of $3,200.00; and
WHEREAS, the Board proposed to accept said bid for the
purchase of said property unless an upset shall be made and
public notice was given as required by law; and
8
