MIN:,TES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, September 17, 1990 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 7:00 P.M. on <br />Monday, September 17, 1990, in the Commissioners' room on the <br />second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, <br />Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were: Commissioners <br />Albert L. Cox, John R. Dossenbach, Jr., Bertha L. Matthews, <br />William C. Stafford, Jr. and Gordon A. Wicker. Vice Chairman <br />Dossenbach declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the <br />transaction of business. <br />Vice Chairman John R. Dossenbach, Jr. presided and the <br />following business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Commissioner Dossenbach. <br />Vice Chairman Dossenbach advised that Chairman Wicker asked him <br />as Vice Chairman to conduct the meeting since Mr. Wicker has been in <br />the hospital and is still recuperating. <br />Commissioner Stafford moved that the Board proceed to hold <br />three public hearings on rezoning requests that were advertised in <br />the Sanford Herald, a newspaper of general circulation in the area, <br />on September 1 and September 7, 1990. Commissioner Cox seconded the <br />motion and upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Vice Chairman ruled the motion had been unanimously adopted <br />and the public hearing was open. <br />The Vice Chairman advised that the first item is a request to <br />rezone from Light Industrial District to Heavy Industrial District <br />approximately 52.26 acres of land located at the end of Brown Road <br />adjacent to the Norfolk & Southern Railroad. <br />The Vice Chairman asked the members of the Planning Board to <br />come forward and advised the audience that they would answer any <br />questions. The Vice Chairman opened the floor to all persons who <br />wanted to speak. <br />Mr. Poly Cohen, owner of the property, <br />property was developed for heavy industry in <br />like it zoned back for that purpose. <br />advised that this <br />the 60's and he would <br />1 <br />
