2006 - <br />LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />rrow <br />RESOLUTION <br />Requesting Further Negotiation <br />Of <br />CCCC Option to Purchase Additional Land <br />WHEREAS, Central Carolina Community College provides exceptional educational <br />opportunities for the citizens of Lee County; and <br />WHEREAS, Central Carolina Community College is very important to the future <br />success of Lee County, for students, the business community as well as the general <br />public; and <br />WHEREAS, there are space constraints at the current campus as well as significant <br />renovation and maintenance needs to existing facilities and classrooms; and <br />WHEREAS, the Central Carolina Community College Board of Trustees has entered <br />into an option to purchase agreement for property adjacent to the community college to <br />• accommodate future growth; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners supports the college's interest and <br />desires to ensure the future success of the community through a strong post- secondary <br />education system; and <br />WHEREAS, at this time the County of Lee has limited funding available to satisfy all of <br />the present and future capital needs of the community college. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lee County Board of Commissioners <br />respectfully requests that the Central Carolina Community College Board of Trustees <br />seek to reduce the purchase price specified in the Option to Purchase Contract for land <br />adjacent to the campus; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees seek supplementary funding <br />sources to the local property tax to finance the future space and land acquisition needs <br />of the college. <br />Ad this 2 day o ebruary 2006." <br />. obert T.
