n9 13 r c 50~ <br />The Board next considered a contract with the Lee County <br />Rescue Squad. Commissioner Cox moved for approval of the <br />following: <br />WHEREAS, the Sanford-Lee County Rescue Squad has made <br />application for renewal of its franchise to operate a rescue <br />squad in Lee County; and <br />WHEREAS, the County is willing to grant said franchise <br />upon the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises and the <br />mutual promises herein contained, the parties have agreed as <br />follows: <br />1. Sanford-Lee County Rescue Squad, Inc. is hereby granted <br />a franchise for a period of three years to operate a rescue <br />service within Lee County in accordance with the application <br />filed by said party and obedient to the ordinance relating to the <br />granting of franchises for ambulance services and other <br />pre-hospital emergency medical services adopted by the Board of <br />Commissioners and recorded in the Book of ordinances on July 22, <br />1982, in Book 1, pages 163, et sea. In connection with the <br />granting of said franchise, the Rescue Squad shall be one of the <br />first departments alerted to the following type calls: <br />(a) Air ground type accidents; <br />(b) Railroad accidents <br />(c) Building collapses and underground rescue <br />(d) High level rescue <br />(e) Evacuations <br />(f) Mass casualty accidents and <br />(g) Natural disasters <br />2. Upon the request of the Director of the Lee County <br />Emergency Medical Service, the squad may be requested to <br />participate in the following type operations: <br />(a) Assisting E.M.S. with extraction <br />(b) Scene lighting <br />(c) Assisting local civic groups with their gatherings, <br />crowd control and first aid <br />In its dealings with the Emergency Medical Service, if the <br />Rescue Squad is requested to assist said department, then control <br />of the incident shall be the responsibility of the officer in <br />charge who requested assistance and if sick and injured persons <br />are involved, care for such persons shall be the sole <br />responsibility of the E.M.S. personnel. Likewise, in the case of <br />drowning victims who need transportation to a hospital, the <br />E.M.S. personnel shall have full control once the victim is <br />placed on the E.M.S. stretcher. <br />3. In return for the granting of said franchise, the <br />Rescue Squad shall allow the Lee County Emergency Medical Service <br />6 <br />
