We have
drafted the same agreement that was executed recently for
Northwest Pocket for the other seven departments and this will
standardize the agreements for all volunteer fire departments.
The Water Committee in a recent meeting came up with three
suggested additions to the contracts:
1. Require each Volunteer Fire Department to provide Board
of County Commissioners certified statements regarding the
quantity of water used for official emergency business or
approved training.
2. Require typed Minutes to Board of Commissioners.
3. Require publishing of a Public Notice of Annual Budget
Hearings.
The Board discussed the matter at length. Commissioner
Matthews, the Board's liaison with the Fire Departments, advised
she would discuss the contracts with the Fire Departments at
their meeting on Saturday. The Board agreed to table the matter
until the October 15th meeting.
Commissioner Matthews reported that the Fire Safety House
has been purchased and is on display at the fair grounds. The
Finance officer advised that the Fire House could not be added
to the County's insurance.
The Board then observed a short recess. Following the
recess, the Board convened with all four members present.
Assistant County Manager, Beatrice Fields reviewed Budget
Amendment #10/01/90/03. Copy is attached to these Minutes and by
this reference made a part hereof. Following the explanation,
commissioner Stafford moved that the budget amendment be adopted.
The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cox and upon a
vote the results were as follows:
Aye: Cox, Matthews, Stafford and Wicker
Nay: None
The Chairman ruled the motion carried unanimously.
5
