2007 - A <br />L_E, <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />RESOLUTION <br />RECOGNIZING MARY YOW <br />TAX LISTING MANAGER <br />WHEREAS, Mary Yow has been employed with Lee County Government for 21 years; and <br />WHEREAS, the mission of IAAO, International Association of Assessing Officers, is to promote innovation and <br />excellence in property appraisal, property policy and administration through development, education, research <br />and technical assistance; and <br />WHEREAS, in 1990, the Virginia Association of Assessing Officers challenged other Associations to increase <br />professionalism in the field of property assessment by increasing the number of designations in their own states; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, to recognize this achievement, designees would receive the honor of possessing and displaying a <br />trophy titled The Virginia Cup; and <br />• WHEREAS, The Virginia Cup is given to the state with the most professional designees during the previous <br />year; and <br />WHEREAS, eight professional designees were awarded in North Carolina, the most designees of any other <br />state; and <br />WHEREAS, Mary Yow earned the Personal Property Specialist designation on September 2, 2005, along with <br />six other tax professionals in North Carolina; and <br />WHEREAS, Mary Yow took possession of The Virginia Cup, the most prestigious award in the world of <br />professional property tax assessors, on March 6, 2007. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Lee County Board of Commissioners as follows: <br />1. That it extends its sincere congratulations to Mary Yow on receiving this prestigious award. <br />2. That it expresses its appreciation for the dedicated service to the professionalism in the field of property <br />assessment. <br />3.
