Attorney Hoyle stated that if an individual is <br />sued due to negligence, the individual's property stands for the <br />individual's performance. The bond covers what the individual <br />cannot pay. The County also carries liability insurance on its <br />employees, which is for the protection of the general public. <br />Commissioner Hall requested that the amounts of these bonds <br />be investigated to assure that they are adequate. <br />Commissioner Wicker moved that the bonds be approved. <br />Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and <br />Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />Chairman Stafford ruled the motion carried unanimously. <br />Chairman Stafford recognized Mike Matochik, Library <br />Director, who presented two videos entitled "Local Government: <br />It's All Around Us!" and "The Challenge of Change: County <br />Government Prepares for the 21st Century". These videos will <br />be available at the library for the public's use. Chairman <br />Stafford thanked Mr. Matochik for the presentation. <br />Commissioner Reives asked if the government center will <br />facilitate a better means for presentations. Chairman Stafford <br />instructed the County Manager to review this with the architect. <br />The Board considered a request to purchase a straw blower <br />and a soil mover for the Soil and Water Conservation District as <br />presented by Mr. Gilbert Matthews. Mr. Matthews stated that two <br />years ago, the County purchased a $7,000.00 sod planting drill <br />for Lee County farmers' use, which has been paid for through <br />rental fees. This equipment aids in keeping fertilizer and seed <br />in place and out of the waterways. Lee County farmers must <br />install approximately 50 acres of grassed waterways and 20 acres <br />of critical area seeding within a couple of years to comply with <br />the 1985 Farm Bill.
