2007 - / <br />LEE COUNTY <br />• Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />RESOLUTION <br />IN MEMORY OF <br />DR. JOHN DOTTERER <br />WHEREAS, Dr. John Dotterer practiced medicine in Sanford for more than 40 years after <br />serving in World War II, and touched the lives of many people with his generosity and caring <br />ways; and <br />WHEREAS, Dr. Dotterer earned his bachelor's degree at Franklin and Marshall in 1932, his <br />master of science degree at Penn State in 1934 and his medical degree at the University of <br />Pennsylvania in 1938; and <br />WHEREAS, Dr. Dotterer married Elizabeth McCauley James of Sanford in August 1941 and is <br />survived by his daughter, Susan Dotterer Dixon; and <br />WHEREAS, Dr. Dotter served as a member of the Lee County Board of Commissioners for a <br />S total of 20 years, serving as Chairman for 11 years, and was named Commissioner of the Year <br />by the N.C. Association of County Commissioners in 1968; and <br />WHEREAS, Dr. Dotterer served for more than 50 years on the Lee County Library's Advisory <br />Board, and also as a patron of the Lee County Community Orchestra and a life member of the <br />N.C. Literary & Historical Association. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lee County Board of Commissioners hereby <br />honors the memory of Dr. John Dotterer for a life of outstanding service, contribution and <br />commendable leadership to his community. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution is spread upon the April 2, 2007 minutes of <br />the Lee County Board of Commissioners as a permanent record of the achievements of and <br />respect for one of Lee County's finest citizens, and that the original be presented to the family of <br />Dr. John Dotterer with sincere sympathy and appreciation. <br />Adopted this the 2n day of April 2007. <br />Robert H.
