Sao <br />results were as fo lows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and <br />Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion adopted unanimously. <br />Finance Director Beatrice Fields reviewed Budget Amendment <br />#01/07/91/10, a copy of which is attached to these minutes, and <br />by this reference, made a part hereof. The request is for <br />additional Day Care funds for Social Services in the amount of <br />$4,178.00. Commissioner Wicker stated that the Finance <br />Committee recommended approval of this budget amendment. <br />Commissioner Hall moved to adopt the budget amendment. <br />Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and <br />Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion adopted unanimously. <br />The Board next considered the preliminary plans for the <br />Lee County Government Center. Commissioner Cox, Chairman of the <br />Buildings, Grounds, and Utilities Committee, stated that after <br />meeting with the architect, the committee recommended <br />advertising for bids for the project. Mr. Derrell Mullins, <br />architect for the project, reviewed the floor plans with the <br />Board. Commissioner Cox stated that the County Commissioners' <br />Board Room will have direct outside access, so that the <br />remainder of the building can be locked during night meetings. <br />Commissioner Reives inquired about the seating capacity of the <br />Board Room. Mr. Mullins stated that the seating capacity will <br />be forty-two. Chairman Stafford stated that in the plans for <br />the Courthouse, Jail, and Law Enforcment Center, one of the <br />large rooms could be converted into a County Commissioners' <br />Board Room, in the event that a sizeable number of people would <br />be attending the meeting. Commissioner Wicker commended the <br />Maintenance Department for the job being done on the demolitions <br />required before renovations can begin. County Manager Cowan <br />stated that this department will also install the plumbing for <br />the project. Mr. Mullins stated that asbestos has been removed <br />in the unoccupied areas of the building. Mr. Mullins <br />recommended advertising for bids January 14, 1991, and receiving <br />bids on February 13, 1991, at 3:30 P.M., in the Board of <br />Commissioners' Room. Chairman Stafford asked what the <br />completion time for the construction will be. Mr. Mullins <br />stated that the contractor will be allowed 160 days to complete <br />the construction. <br />Commissioner Cox moved to approve the preliminary plans for <br />the Lee County Government Center.
