0 'ov 13 538 <br />Chairman Stafford stated that asking the committee to <br />come up with more plans, will provide no more information than <br />the Board already has. Commissioner Hall moved that more <br />plans be drafted for the Board's review. Commissioner <br />Matthews seconded the motion. <br />Commissioner Reives asked if a time frame will be <br />specified. <br />Commissioner Wicker asked how much money will be involved <br />in obtaining additional plans. Commissioner Matthews stated <br />that it will cost no more to request additional plans. <br />Commissioner Hall stated that having additional plans would <br />provide an opportunity to determine whether there is or is not <br />a better plan. <br />Commissioner Cox asked how much time will be given to <br />accomplish this. Commissioner Hall stated that whatever time <br />is needed to accomplish this will be fine. Commissioner Cox <br />told Commissioner Hall to be prepared to take the blame for <br />the delay of the project. Commissioner Hall stated that he <br />would be glad to take the blame for the delay as long as he <br />has a choice in plans. Commissioner Reives stated that some <br />time period should be stipulated. Commissioner Hall stated <br />that the alternate plans should be submitted within a <br />reasonable amount of time. <br />Commissioner Reives asked how many alternate plans would <br />be requested. Commissioner Hall stated that there are two <br />possibilities. one is a building being built directly behind <br />the courthouse and joins the front of the courthouse. Another <br />is coming down from the end of the street and joining from <br />where the jail is now, constructing a building there and <br />attaching it to the top. <br />Commissioner Reives asked if two alternative plans along <br />with the existing plans would be sufficient. Commissioner <br />Hall stated that it would and it would not costs any more. <br />Commissioner Matthews stated that she would like to see <br />plans of the present courthouse with renovations, designating <br />the use of the areas and the costs involved in renovating it. <br />Commissioner Cox stated that it would be impossible to figure <br />a cost in renovating the building. He can give you an <br />estimate. <br />Commissioner Hall stated that ninety days should be <br />sufficient time. County Manager Cowan stated that it may take <br />six months to draft two sets of plans. <br />Commissioner Cox stated that the architect has contacted <br />every authority in Raleigh researching this, of which <br />Commissioner Hall may not be aware. <br />County Manager Cowan stated that the architect will need <br />to review additional plans with the staff involved again, <br />which will take some time. The minimum time involved may be <br />sixty to ninety days. The architect would have to determine <br />13 <br />
