0 Ln 13 *rf;; 616 <br />biennial basis; and, in keeping with this requirement, the <br />chief elected official(s) and the Private Industry Council <br />chair of the service delivery area must submit a written <br />agreement designating a substate grantee for the substate area; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Mid-Carolina Private Industry Council has <br />discussed the issue and wish to continue the designation of the <br />current grantee for Program Years 1991 and 1992. <br />BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners does submit and support that the Mid-Carolina <br />Council of Governments be designated as the grantee for the <br />administration of funds relating to the legislation, which will <br />result in continued success and continuity in the delivery of <br />employment and job training services in the Region. <br />Commissioner Reives seconded the motion, and upon a vote, <br />the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and <br />Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been adopted <br />unanimously. <br />Mr. Nathan Crissman, Tax Administrator, presented the tax <br />releases for the Board's consideration. A copy of this report <br />is attached to these minutes, and upon this reference, made a <br />part hereof. Following a brief discussion, Commissioner Hall <br />moved that the releases be authorized and approved. <br />Commissioner Wicker seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and <br />Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been adopted <br />unanimously. <br />Mr. Crissman informed the Board that a bill is being <br />introduced to the legislature that would involve the NC <br />Division of Motor Vehicles working in conjunction with local <br />tax authorities throughout the State by prohibiting license <br />renewal on vehicles on which taxes have not been paid. He <br />encouraged the Board's endorsement of this bill, since it would <br />greatly improve tax collections. <br />Mr. Crissman stated that the Board of Equalization and <br />Review, which is comprised of the Board of County <br />Commissioners, meets annually in April to hear from Lee County <br />citizens wishing to appeal their tax valuations.
