eau, 13 rrs~ 613 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, March 4, 1991 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 9:30 A.M. <br />on Monday, March 4, 1991, in the Commissioners' Room on the <br />second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, <br />Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were: Commissioners <br />Albert L. Cox, Bobby R. Hall, Bertha L. Matthews, Nathan E. <br />Paschal, Robert T. Reives, William C. Stafford, Jr., and Gordon <br />A. Wicker. Chairman Stafford declared a quorum present and the <br />meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman William C. Stafford, Jr., presided, and the <br />following business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Commissioner Matthews. <br />The drafts of the February 14 and February 18, 1991, <br />meetings were considered. Commissioner Cox moved that the <br />drafts of the minutes be adopted as the official minutes for <br />said meetings and that they be recorded. Commissioner Matthews <br />seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and <br />Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously <br />adopted. <br />The Chairman recognized Mr. Leonard Barefoot, Planning <br />Director, who presented the Environmental Affairs Board's <br />report of their study regarding Cherokee Sanford Group, Inc.'s <br />proposal to construct a municipal solid waste landfill on Colon <br />Road. He informed the Board that the Environmental Affairs <br />Board recommended that the Lee County Board of Commissioners <br />give further consideration to Cherokee Sanford Group, Inc.'s <br />proposal to construct a landfill on Colon Road as outlined in <br />the report. Mr. Tom Darden, representing Cherokee Sanford <br />Group, Inc., was introduced and addressed concerns of the <br />Board. Mr. Darden informed the Board that a rezoning request <br />would have to be approved by the City of Sanford in order for a <br />1 <br />
