Following a brief discussion, Commissioner Wicker <br />moved that the releases and refunds be authorized and approved. <br />Commissioner Hall seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and <br />Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been adopted <br />unanimously. <br />The Chairman recessed the meeting for a brief reception <br />honoring the high school students in attendance. Following the <br />recess, the Chairman recognized Mr. Leonard Barefoot, Director <br />of Planning and Inspections Department, who requested the <br />Board's consideration of the following resolution: <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CONSTRUCTION, PAVING, AND <br />ADDITION TO THE DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS SYSTEM FOR MAINTENANCE <br />AN EXTENSION OF OAK PARK (S.R. 1475) <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners recognizes <br />the importance of industrial development within Lee County; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners to promote economic development by assisting in <br />the construction of streets to serve local industries; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners has <br />received a request to construct, pave and add a new section of <br />Oak Park (S.R. 1475) in order to serve the new Praxis Biologics <br />industrial facility; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners that it would be in the public interest for the <br />North Carolina Department of Transportation to construct, pave <br />and add the street to their system for maintenance as <br />requested: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF <br />COMMISSIONERS that the North Carolina Department of <br />Transportation be requested to construct, pave and maintain <br />that new portion of Oak Park (S.R. 1475) to serve the new <br />Praxis Biologics facility and that the cost of said <br />construction be taken from the North Carolina Department of <br />Transportation Public Access Funds. <br />Following some discussion, Commissioner Matthews moved <br />that the resolution be adopted.
