0 0 <br />t <br />goo 13 aACr 6'10 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, April 1, 1991 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 9:30 A.M. <br />on Monday, April 1, 1991, in the Commissioners' Room on the <br />v second floor of the County Office Building,200 Wicker Street, <br />Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were: Commissioners <br />Albert L. Cox, Bobby R. Hall, Bertha L. Matthews, Nathan E. <br />Paschal, Robert T. Reives, William C. Stafford, Jr., and Gordon <br />A. Wicker. Chairman Stafford declared a quorum present and the <br />meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman William C. Stafford, Jr., presided, and the <br />following business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Commissioner Cox. <br />Chairman Stafford recognized and welcomed seven Lee Senior <br />High School representatives attending the meeting in <br />conjunction with the upcoming National County Government Week <br />activities. He announced that each student would be assigned <br />to a Commissioner and the County Attorney during the first <br />portion of this session as follows: Candace Poe was assigned <br />to Commissioner Paschal; Philip Thomas was assigned to <br />Commissioner Reives; Ashley Brown was assigned to Commissioner <br />Matthews; Tremillia Reaves was assigned to Commissioner Hall; <br />Michael Warren was assigned to Commissioner Cox; Jason <br />Gaertner was assigned to Commissioner Wicker; and Sharon <br />Douglas was assigned to County Attorney K. R. Hoyle. After <br />each student took his/her position with the Board, Chairman <br />Stafford explained to the students the Commissioners' role in <br />county government. <br />Commissioner Cox moved to adopt the following <br />proclamation: <br />WHEREAS, county government is the oldest form of local <br />government in the United States and 98 percent of the nation's <br />population reside in counties; and <br />WHEREAS, county government in North Carolina has been a <br />major partner in providing services to citizens since 1663 and <br />today the 100 counties of our state are involved in providing <br />1 <br />
