BOOK 22 PiGt 711 <br />4. Charges for Responding to Public Records Requests <br />a. The Public Records Law provides that persons may obtain public records <br />free or at minimal cost. Charges for producing documents pursuant to a <br />public records request shall reflect the actual cost of reproducing the <br />record. <br />b. There shall be no fee for public records made by credential members of <br />the press. <br />c. Copies of materials obtained from the Lee County Library system shall be <br />charged at the library's established fee schedule and in accordance with <br />library policies, <br />d. There shall be no charge for document requests of 5 pages or less for all <br />other requesters. <br />e. For document requests in excess of 5 pages, there shall be a charge of 100 <br />per page for each page (to include the initial 5 pages). <br />L Labor costs shall not be charged for document requests- <br />g. Document requests shall use a backward-rolling sixty day calendar in <br />order to avoid piecemeal requests and encourage efficiency in the <br />workplace. According, once a requester receives his/her "ace" five page <br />record, he/she will be charged 10¢ per page for each page produced <br />thereafter on behalf of the requester within the next sixty days. <br />h. Where the custodian of the record reasonably believes the cost of <br />producing the record will exceed five dollars ($5.00), the custodian shall <br />contact the requestor for permission to produce the record at the estimated <br />cost- Copies shall not be made until the custodian receives affirmation <br />from the requester that he/she is willing to pay the estimated cost of <br />producing the records. <br />i. Requests for waiver of fees may be made to the County Manager on a case <br />by case basis. <br />j. Copies of records shall not be released until the requester pays the <br />copying/production cost. <br />k. Fees for certifying copies of public records shall be as provided bylaw. <br />3 <br />
