The Chair ruled the motion had carried unanimously. <br /> C. Lee County Cost of Community Services Presentation <br /> Bill Stone, County Extension Director provided the Lee County Cost of Community <br /> Services Study Presentation, which was a collaborative project with the Finance and <br /> Tax Office along with Mount Olive College to complete a county Cost of Community <br /> Services assessment. Edward Olive with Mount Olive University presented the Cost <br /> of Community Services Study. A copy of the full study was provided to the Board. <br /> This study evaluated three different land uses including residential, <br /> commercial/industrial, and agriculture/forestry. This project was supported through <br /> the N.C. Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund. No action <br /> was taken. <br /> D. Consideration of Resolution in Support of House Bill 551 <br /> Tabled until April 2, 2018 Board of Commissioners Meeting. <br /> E. Request for Approval of Contract with Duke Life Point (DLP) / Central Carolina <br /> Medical Group, LLC <br /> Lee County implemented the first phase of an employee wellness program in <br /> November of 2012. The purpose of the program was to educate, improve and change <br /> the behavior of our employees regarding their health. Since the implementation of the <br /> program, reduction in the cost of Lee County employee's claims has been achieved, <br /> thus lowering premiums over the last several years. Lee County has now <br /> implemented the second phase of the employee wellness program. DLP Central <br /> Carolina Medical Group, LLC will prove on-site acute care for employees and <br /> employees' dependents who are on the County's Health Insurance Plan. Employees <br /> can receive care and the costs of that care will not be billed to BCBS. This will reduce <br /> the cost of claims. The wellness center will also reduce the time away from work for <br /> employees who normally would have longer wait times in a physician's office. The <br /> wellness center will be located next door to the Government Center. DLP Central <br /> Carolina Medical Group, LLC will provide a Nurse Practitioner and a Certified Medical <br /> Assistant 3 hours a day, 5 days a week. The Group will provide the licensing and <br /> professional liability insurance for one million dollars per occurrence. A licensed <br /> physician employed by DLP Central Carolina Medical Group, LLC, will supervise the <br /> wellness center. The plan for the future is to use the wellness clinic to do drug testing, <br /> employee screenings and worker's compensation injuries in addition to providing <br /> acute care. Open House for the Wellness Center will occur on April 2nd, and will open <br /> for business on Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018. Commissioner Oldham moved to approve <br /> the contract with DLP Central Carolina Medical Group, LLC, a copy of which is <br /> attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof.
