• Section 2. Except as amended herein by Section 1, the Resolution of June 26, 1993, <br />as amended by the Resolution of October 18, 1993, shall remain in full force and effect. <br />Section 3. Within thirty days (30) after adoption of this Resolution, the County <br />Attorney is directed to submit the Resolution, the proposed redistricting plan, and supporting <br />data and documentation to the United States Department of Justice for pre - clearance under <br />the Voting Rights Act of 1965, pursuant to North Carolina General Statute Section 120 -9E. <br />Section 4. This amendment redefining the electoral district boundaries shall be <br />effective upon pre - clearance by the United States Department of Justice pursuant to Section 5 <br />of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. <br />Section S. This Resolution shall be published in full upon its preclearance by the <br />United States Department of Justice. <br />Section 6. Not later than ten (10) days after the date on which the Resolution <br />becomes effective, the Clerk to the Board shall file certified true copies of the Resolution with <br />the North Carolina Secretary of State's Office, in the office of the Lee County Register of Deeds, <br />with the Chairman of the Lee County Board of Elections, in the North Carolina Supreme Court <br />Library, and in the North Carolina General Assembly's Legislative Library. <br />• Section 7. Not later than thirty (30) days after the date on which a proposed <br />redistricting plan is pre - cleared by the United States Department of Justice, the Clerk to the <br />Board shall file with the Director, Office of Administrative Hearings certified true copies of all <br />letters and other documents received by Lee County from the Attorney General of the United <br />States in which a final decision is made concerning the redistricting plan submitted for pre- <br />clearance, as is required by North Carolina General Statute Section 120- 30.9H. <br />Adopted this the _�` day of July, 2011. <br />4 da A.
