2005 - <br />• RESOLUTION <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE COLLABORATIVE DENTAL PROJECT <br />BETWEEN <br />CENTRAL CAROLINA COMMUNITY COLLEGE <br />AND THE <br />LEE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT <br />WHEREAS, Central Carolina Community College is developing a Dental Hygiene <br />and Dental Assisting curriculum program; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Health Department, as an agency of the County, is <br />expanding its Children's Dental Clinic; and <br />WHEREAS, both the County and the College are negotiating lease agreements <br />with Brick Capital Community Development Corporation for space at the historic <br />W. B. School; and <br />WHEREAS, the collaborative effort will reduce initial start-up costs for both the <br />Health Department and the College through shared equipment, personnel, and <br />• supplies; and <br />WHEREAS, the collaborative effort will increase the number of dental services <br />available to low- income patients in need of oral health care, as well as expand <br />services from exclusively pediatric care to include adult and geriatric services; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the collaborative effort will result in significant long -term economic <br />benefit to Lee County and the surrounding counties as graduates begin filling <br />documented vacancies in area dental practices; and <br />WHEREAS, Central Carolina Community College is applying for grant funding to <br />offset start-up costs of the collaborative effort. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved that we, the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners, gathered here this 23 day of August 2005, and do hereby <br />express support of the collaborative dental project between Central Carolina <br />Community College and the Lee County Health Department, and <br />• <br />
