2005 - <br />LEE C <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CHALLENGE TO <br />U.S. CENSUS 2004 POPULATION ESTIMATE <br />WHEREAS, the U.S. Census Bureau's sub - national yearly population estimates <br />are prepared under the auspices of the Federal -State Cooperative Program for <br />Population Estimates (FSCPE); and <br />WHEREAS, the U.S. Census Bureau's yearly population estimated for the <br />County of Lee, North Carolina, has shown a decrease in population for three <br />consecutive years; and <br />• WHEREAS, the Commissioners of the County of Lee, North Carolina, believes it <br />is in the best interest of its citizens to have a more accurate portrayal of its <br />population. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Commissioners of Lee County, <br />North Carolina, as follows: <br />That the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners is hereby authorized to <br />sign a challenge to the U.S. Census Population Estimate for 2004 <br />supporting an increase in population to 54,581 as of July 1, 2004. <br />Adopted this the 1 gth day of September 2005. <br />7 J�� <br />n <br />Herbert A.
