2005 - _ <br />u • + <br />0 <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />RESOLUTON <br />OF <br />APPRECIATION <br />C] <br />WHEREAS, on October 9, 2005, off -duty Sanford Police Officer Greg <br />Parker came upon a head -on collision outside the city limits of Sanford; and <br />WHEREAS, Officer Parker notified 911 of the accident and identified <br />himself as a police officer to a Hispanic male standing over a female laying on <br />the ground with a pickaxe in his hand; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hispanic male ignored Officer Parker and raised the <br />pickaxe as if to strike the female laying in the roadway; and <br />WHEREAS, Officer Parker continued to relay the incident to 911 while an <br />on -duty officer appeared on the scene to assist; and <br />WHEREAS, the suspect was apprehended and charged with DWI and <br />assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Resolved that we, the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners, gathered here this 21 day of November 2005, commends <br />Officer Parker for his assistance in the incident and for saving the life of Cynthia <br />Nicole Benfield from attack and possible death. <br />Adopted this date and presented to Sanford Police Officer Greg Parker in <br />recognition of his assistance on the night of October 9, 2005 <br />qJer <br />Lemm nd, Sponsor Herbert A.
