607 <br />Chairman Shook called the meeting to order for advertised public hearings. <br />Chairman Shook opened the public hearing for discussion and approval of redrawn boundaries <br />of Lee County Commissioner electoral districts that had been advertised for this date and time. Deputy <br />Attorney Dale Talbert updated the Board on discussion that was held during their June 20 meeting <br />where Plans A and D were selected as the two boundaries for a public hearing to be held. Mr. Talbert <br />stated that maps have been available for inspection at the Lee County Library, Lee County Government <br />Center and Board of Elections office. Information was also provided on the Lee County website with a <br />link for citizens to make comments. <br />No one present spoke for or against Plans A and /or D as presented. <br />The public hearing was left open in case individuals arrived later for the meeting> <br />Chairman Shook opened the public hearing with the Lee County Planning Board that had been <br />advertised for this date and time in reference to an appli cation 'by the Carolina Trace Volunteer Fire <br />Department to rezone from Residential Restricted (RR) district to Office and Institutional (O & 1) district <br />approximately .93 ± acres of land east of Highway 87 South and being the site of the Carolina Trace <br />Volunteer Fire Department located at 37A Indian Trail, Sanford, North Carolina. Planner Althea <br />Thompson outlined the proposed rezoning request. <br />Mr. Frank Layton, President of the Carolina Trace Fire Department spoke in favor of the request <br />and stated the fire department would like to expand their current facility to add more training room and <br />office space with no additional tax increase to the citizens. <br />No one present spoke in opposition to the proposed rezoning request. <br />Chairman Shook closed the public hearing with the Lee County Planning Board. <br />At this time, citizens were once again allowed time to address the redistricting issue, with no <br />one speaking in favor of pvin opposition. <br />Chairman Shook closed,the public hearing. <br />Commissioner Reives moved to accept Plan A as the new redistricting plan with Plan D as the <br />back -up plamand approve a Resolution Redefining Commissioner Electoral District Boundaries, a copy <br />of which is- attached`to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the <br />results,were as follows' <br />Aye: Hayes, Oldham, Parks, Paschal, Reives, Shook, and Womack <br />Nay: ,None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Chairman Shook opened the regular meeting of the Board back in session to finalize items not <br />completed prior to the Closed Session. <br />County Manager John Crumpton presented the Monthly Financial Report for month ending June <br />30, 2011. No action was taken. <br />
