LEE COU <br />CJ O 0QM C.00 . 6 <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />SPECIAL CALLED MEETING <br />OF THE <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />106 HILLCREST DRIVE <br />SANFORD, NORTH CAROLINA 27330 <br />JUNE 27, 2011 <br />The special called meeting of the Lee County Board of Commissioners for the County of <br />Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 4 p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, Lee County <br />Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina, on said date. <br />Commissioners present were Richard B. Hayes, Larry "Doc" Oldham, Charles T. Parks, <br />Nathan E. Paschal, and Linda A. Shook. Commissioner's Robert T. Reives and James K. <br />Womack were absent from the meeting. <br />Chairman Shook called the meeting to order and the following business was <br />transaction: <br />County Attorney K. R. Hoyle delivered the invocation. <br />The pledge of allegiance was recited. <br />The Board considered an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Sanford for fire /rescue <br />service to the Clearwater Drive community. County Manager John Crumpton stated that at the <br />June 20 meeting the Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution creating and defining the <br />Clearwater Forest Fire Protection and Rescue Service District and approved an Interlocal <br />Agreement with the City of Sanford through which the County would pay the City to provide the <br />services to the district. The interlocal agreement differed from the one previously submitted to <br />and tentatively approved by Sanford City Council's Law and Finance Committee on June 14th <br />in that it was amended to require payment of the City's fee to be made quarterly, whereas the <br />agreement approved by the Law and Finance Committee required the fee be paid in a lump <br />sum by July 15 The Sanford City Council subsequently rejected the agreement containing <br />the quarterly payment provision, but approved the original agreement containing the lump sum <br />payment provision. After discussion, Commissioner Hayes moved to approve an Interlocal <br />Agreement with the City of Sanford to Provide Services to the Clearwater Forest Fire <br />Protection and Rescue Service District with payment being made by July 15th, a copy of which <br />is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof.
