It will also provide workforce traini for current <br />and future businesses that locale in the Business Campus. The Center will <br />house classrooms, offices, a student center, computer and class labs, <br />vocationaVindustrial training shops, and other services. <br />Dianne Reid, president of Chatham Count Economic Development <br />Corporation also addressed the importance of the workforce training that <br />will take place at the Center. She told the gathering that Site Selection <br />Magazine has chosen North Carolina as the No. 1 place in the United <br />States for business growth for eight of the past nine years. She gave major <br />credit for this to the state's community college system and its workforce <br />development programs. <br />"Having Central Carolina Community College here to train workers to fill <br />jobs we attract is incredibly huge," she said. "There could not be a more <br />important thing we could offer to prospective businesses." <br />Read more... <br />Economic Development and the Defense Industry <br />In October, the EDC became a member of the All- American Defense <br />Busines A ssociation , a regional group of businesses with interests in <br />military contracting, government affairs and supporting the region's military <br />installations. <br />The AADBA provides information for Department of Defense contractors to <br />enhance contracting capabilities, connects defense contractors and <br />businesses with resources to improve business potential, and offers <br />networking opportunities to increase business contacts and build <br />relationships. <br />
