t , 4 <br />LEE COUNTY <br />p00um ga _ <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />BUDGET WORK SESSION <br />OF THE <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />106 HILLCREST DRIVE <br />SANFORD, NORTH CAROLINA 27330 <br />JUNE 7, 2011 <br />The budget work session of the Lee County Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, <br />State of North Carolina, convened at 10 a.m. in the Gordon Wicker Conference Room, First Floor, Lee <br />County Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina, on said date. Commissioners <br />present were Charles T. Parks, Nathan E. Paschal, Linda A. Shook, and James K. Womack, Jr. <br />Staff present included Assistant County Manager /Finance Director Lisa Minter and Clerk to the Board <br />Gaynell M. Lee. <br />At this time Board members in attendance heard a presentation from General Services' staff in <br />reference to their general budget along with Buildings & Grounds and Solid Waste departments for the <br />upcoming year. General Services Director Russell Spivey discussed the need for the Grounds <br />employee that is recommended for reduction in force in the proposed budget. After the presentation <br />and discussion, Commissioner Womack asked if Mr. Spivey would be willing to forgo the purchase of a <br />new cargo van for the Grounds employee. <br />The budget work session adjourned at 12 noon until the 3 p.m. session. <br />At the 3 p.m. budget session, Commissioner Womack was in attendance. Staff in attendance <br />included County Manager John Crumpton, Assistant County Manager /Finance Director Lisa Minter and <br />Clerk to the Board Gaynell M. Lee. <br />Cooperative Extension Director Susan Condlin discussed services administered from her <br />department and eliminations proposed in the upcoming budget. <br />Mr. Tommy Brooks from Soil & Water discussed that department's budget. The $3,000 <br />proposed elimination for funding for RC &D program in his budget was discussed. <br />Library Director Mike Matochik discussed the main library functions, along with his departments' <br />budget. The closing of the Jonesboro and Broadway Libraries was discussed along with the elimination <br />of one full -time employee and salaries for part-time workers due to the closing of the two branch <br />libraries. <br />Board of Elections Director Nancy Kimble discussed her budget which includes funding for two <br />full -time employees and one part-time worker. <br />The budget work session adjourned at 4:50 p.m - �� <br />( <br />Lin ' .
