l3 f, O K 24 ; 1.71 <br />LEE COUNTY <br />nooQGo 0aedl,0 a <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />BUDGET WORK SESSION <br />OF THE <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />106 HILLCREST DRIVE <br />SANFORD, NORTH CAROLINA 27330 <br />JUNE 3, 2011 <br />The budget work session of the Lee County Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, <br />State of North Carolina, convened at 10 a.m. in the Gordon Wicker Conference Room, First Floor, Lee <br />County Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina, on said date. Commissioners <br />present were Larry "Doc' Oldham, Nathan E. Paschal, Charles T. Parks, and James K. Womack, Jr. <br />Staff present included County Manager John Crumpton, Assistant County Manager /Finance Director <br />Lisa Minter, and Clerk to the Board Gaynell M. Lee. <br />Emergency Services Director Shane Seagroves gave an overview of the Emergency Services <br />and Fire Marshal's offices, and answered questions in reference to his recommended budget for FY <br />2011 -12. <br />The budget work session recessed until 3 p.m. on this date. <br />The 3 p.m. recessed budget work session began in the Gordon Wicker Conference Room, Lee <br />County Government Center. Commissioners present were Nathan E. Paschal and James K. Womack, <br />Jr. Staff attending was County Manager John Crumpton, Assistant County Manager /Finance Director <br />Lisa Minter, County Attorney K. R. Hoyle, and Clerk to the Board Gaynell M. Lee. <br />Tax Administrator Dwane Brinson discussed the makeup of his department, outlining the four <br />divisions in his office, and his requested FY 2011 -12 budget. One position in the Listing Department <br />has been recommended for elimination. Mr. Brinson offered to give up a new vehicle in place of <br />replacing the employee. <br />Commissioner Womack discussed the following questions concerning the Commissioners' <br />budget: <br />1. Waive the COLA increase for all Commissioners, <br />2. Freeze travel at the current year level — no increase, <br />3. Eliminate "consulting services" line item and take funds from either the General Fund <br />or another line item if needed, and <br />4. Accept the cut of the $25 Christmas gift cards from the Commissioners budget <br />County Manager John Crumpton left the meeting at this time. <br />Assistant County Manager Lisa Minter discussed the budget for Administration. Staffing for the <br />department was discussed, along with the travel line item. <br />
