B. <br />XX Information <br />Meeting Date: June 2, 2008 -Action Item <br />- Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: Report on New Temporary Food Establishment Fees <br />DEPARTMENT: Lee County Health Department <br />CONTACT PERSON: Mike Hanes, Health Director <br />REQUEST: Report - Information Only <br />SUMMARY: The Attorney General's Office has recently issued an opinion that <br />Temporary Food Establishments (TFE) is subject to a permit fee <br />similar to the one that is assessed to restaurants each year. The <br />annual permit fee is $50.00 for restaurants. Accordingly, a TFE is <br />subject to the $50.00 permit fee each time they receive a permit for <br />an event. If a TFE sets up on consecutive weeks at a different <br />event then they would be subject to two consecutive permit fees. <br />The State Office of Environmental Health has also determined these <br />fees shall be assessed, collected and used locally to support the <br />environmental health program. These permit fees are mandatory <br />and become effective July 1 2008.
