043 <br />® .3801 DEFINITIONS defines terms used in these rules. <br />.3802 SAMPLE COLLECTION <br />Requires private drinking water wells to be sampled within 30 days of issuance of a certificate <br />of completion. <br />Sampling and testing can be done by a certified lab. The sample collector <br />Sample collector must be trained and can be: <br />o Environmental Health Specialist at local health department <br />o Authorized agent of DENR <br />o Employee of certified lab <br />Specifies EPA regs to follow for sample collection and testing <br />Samples collected at tap closest to well <br />Owner to provide access and power for sample collection <br />Use bottles provided by lab <br />Test for chlorine before taking sample <br />Do not sample wells if: <br />o System contains chlorine <br />o System has not been disinfected <br />o Well is improperly constructed or located <br />.3803 SAMPLE ANALYSIS <br />Samples are to be analyzed by the state lab or certified lab for: <br />o Total / Fecal Coliform <br />o Arsenic <br />o Barium <br />o Cadmium <br />o Chromium <br />o Copper <br />o Flouride <br />o Lead <br />o Iron <br />o Magnesium <br />o Manganese <br />o Merrcury <br />o Nitrate / Nitrite <br />o Selenium <br />o Silver <br />o Sodium <br />o Zinc <br />o PH <br />EPA laboratory methods to be followed <br />.3804 REPORTING <br />Sample results are reported to <br />o Environmental Health Specialist <br />o Private Water Supply Branch <br />o Division of Public Health, Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology <br />Private labs to report similarly <br />.3805 DATA REVIEW <br />Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology Branch to provide health departments with <br />information on: <br />o Contaminants detected <br />o Recommendations for use of water <br />® 0 Recommendations for repeat sampling. <br />
