L <br />_ Information <br />Meeting Date: May 19, 2008 Action Item <br />XX Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: FY 2008 Emergency Management Performance Grant Application <br />DEPARTMENT: Emergency Management <br />CONTACT PERSON: Eric Griffin <br />REQUEST: Authorize Submission of Annual Emergency Management <br />® Performance Grant Application for FY 2008 <br />SUMMARY: In accordance with the 2007-2008 Department of Homeland <br />Security Appropriations Bill (P.L. 109-295) which appropriated $200 million nationally to the <br />Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) program, each local entity is required to <br />submit an application to the State Administrative Agency (SAA) to receive funding. For North <br />Carolina, the SAA is through the North Carolina Division of Emergency Management. Emergency <br />Management estimates that Lee County will receive approximately $24,000 once the application <br />process is completed that has been included in the FY 2008-2009 budget request. Based on <br />historical precedent, funds should arrive around October 2008. This is an annual grant program <br />and Lee County has been a participant each year at least since 2004. <br />BUDGET IMPACT: None.
