F. <br />Information <br />Meeting Date: March 17, 2008 Action Item <br />XX Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: Recommendation from the Planning Board <br />DEPARTMENT: Sanford-Lee County Community Development <br />CONTACT PERSON: Althea Thompson, Planner II <br />REQUEST: Consider recommendation from the Planning Board and make final <br />decision on rezoning request <br />SUMMARY: Application No. 2008-0201 submitted by Timothy and Suzette Sloan <br />to rezone 20.38 acres of land located off Avent's Ferry Road, NC Hwy. 42E from Residential <br />Agricultural (RA) district to "Sloan Mountain Vineyards & Winery Conditional Zoning District". The <br />property is depicted on Tax Map 9673, a portion of Tax Parcel 9673-73-4288, Lee County Land <br />Records. <br />BUDGET IMPACT: N/A <br />ATTACHMENT(S): (1) Recommendation from the Planning Board with staff report; <br />(2) Zoning Map; and (3) Ordinance to amend the Official Zoning Map of Lee County <br />PUBLIC HEARING: No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION: On February 18, 2008, the Board of Commissioners and Planning <br />Board held a public hearing to consider Application No. 2008-0201. <br />At the public hearing, Mr. and Mrs. Sloan presented a power point presentation and spoke in <br />support of their request. Economic Development Director Bob Heuts, Lee County Extension <br />Director Susan Condlin, and Mr. Cecil Cameron, former planning board member and neighbor to <br />Mr. and Mrs. Sloan also spoke in favor of the rezoning petition. No one spoke in opposition to the <br />request. <br />RECOMMENDATION: The Planning Board, by a unanimous vote, recommends that the <br />Board of Commissioners approve the application to rezone the above-referenced property. <br />
