0] 2 <br />0 LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Beiter Tomorrow <br />PROCLAMATION <br />SPRING 2008 "LITTER SWEEP" <br />ROADSIDE CLEANUP <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation annually organizes a Spring <br />statewide roadside cleanup to ensure clean and beautiful roads in North Carolina, and <br />WHEREAS, the Spring 2008 "Litter Sweep" roadside cleanup has been designed for April <br />19 - May 3, 2008, and encourages local government leaders, civic and professional <br />groups, churches, schools, families, businesses, and individual citizens to participate by <br />organizing cleanups in their communities; and <br />WHEREAS, the "Litter Sweep" cleanup will educate and encourage all individuals in Lee <br />County as to the importance of a clean environment and the quality of life in Lee County; <br />and <br />® WHEREAS, a clean environment are sources of great pride for all Lee County residents, <br />attracting tourists and adding in recruiting new industries, and <br />WHEREAS, the cleanup will aide awareness of the need for cleaner roadsides, <br />emphasize the importance of not littering and encourage recycling of solid wastes, and <br />WHEREAS, the 2008 Spring cleanup will celebrate the 20`h anniversary of the North <br />Carolina Adopt-A-Highway program and the thousands of volunteers who contribute their <br />time and labor year round to keep our roadsides clean. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, We, the Lee County Board of Commissioners, do hereby <br />proclaim April 19 - May 3, 2008, as "LITTER SWEEP' time in Lee County, and urge all <br />citizens to participate in making our roadsides clean and encourage the recycling of solid <br />wastes <br />Adopted this 17'h day of March 2008. <br />ElY <br />ATTEST: <br />Gaynell M.
