March 17, 2008 Action Item <br />XX Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: Proclamation for Spring 2008 "Litter Sweep" <br />DEPARTMENT: Governing Body <br />CONTACT PERSON Gaynell Lee, Clerk to the Board <br />REQUEST. Proclamation for 2008 Spring "Litter Sweep" in Lee County <br />SUMMARY: Every Spring the North Carolina Department of Transportation <br />(DOT) participates in a "Litter Sweep" program for roadside cleanup. <br />This year Governor Easley has proclaimed April 19 - May 3, 2008, <br />as a time to support our community to help clean up North Carolina. <br />NCDOT crews, local governments, Department of Correction <br />inmates, Adopt-A-Highway volunteers, churches, civic <br />organizations, schools, businesses and concerned citizens will <br />participate during this time to clean roadsides. <br />The Board is asked to approve a proclamation proclaiming April 19 <br />- May 3, 2008 as "Litter Sweep" in Lee County. <br />BUDGET IMPACT: N/A <br />ATTACHMENT(S): 1) Lee County Proclamation <br />2) Back-up from NCDOT <br />3) Proclamation from Governor Michael Easley <br />PUBLIC HEARING: No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve Proclamation as presented. <br />
