033 <br />0 LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Setter Tomorrow <br />RESOLUTION <br />REGARDING THE USE OF LANDLINE 911 FUNDS <br />WHEREAS, as a result of limitations placed on the use of 911 funds collected on <br />landlines by the State of North Carolina there is an estimated surplus of $500,000 for Lee <br />County alone, and <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina General Assembly has decided to make this money <br />available to Lee County and other counties through House Bill 1755, and <br />WHEREAS, this money was originally collected from landline users for 911 related <br />purposes; and <br />WHEREAS, it is our belief this money should be used to enhance the programs of the <br />various pubic safety agencies in Lee County which was the original purpose. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Resolved that the Lee County Board of Commissioners <br />hereby resolves the following: <br />1. That surplus 911 funds collected from landlines prior to January 1, 2008 <br />be transferred to the Lee County General Fund. <br />2. These dollars may only be available for public safety and emergency <br />management purposes in Lee County. <br />3.
