B. <br />Information <br />Meeting Date: January 22, 2008 XX Action Item <br />- Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: Convenience Center Decal Program <br />DEPARTMENT: General Services - Waste Collection Division <br />CONTACT PERSON: Joe Cherry, Solid Waste Superintendent <br />REQUEST: Approve proposal of Solid Waste Superintendent to implement a <br />Convenience Center Decal System effective March 1, 2008. <br />• SUMMARY: Decals will be issued annually to all Lee County residents who have <br />paid the solid waste fee. Vehicles without a decal will be turned away from the convenience <br />center. This will eliminate unauthorized use of our facilities. <br />BUDGET IMPACT: Printing $3,200.00 <br />Postage and Mail Service $6,400.00 <br />$10,000.00 has been budgeted for this program. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): 1) Draft Policy <br />2) Draft Decal Mailing <br />PUBLIC HEARING: N/A <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION: Program was recommended to Commissioners with FY 2006-07 <br />budget. Board considered request at the January 7'h Commissioners meeting but tabled action <br />until the January 22nd meeting. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the program with the start of the <br />program being March 1", 2008. A 30-day grace period will be given to citizens who enter the <br />facility without a sticker, but can show ID that contains a Lee County address. In addition, the <br />Centers will also contain lists of citizens who have paid the fee so that the workers can check <br />each customer who shows up without a sticker. The Customer List will serve as a back up in <br />case a sticker is lost or someone uses a vehicle that doesn't have a sticker. <br />0 <br />
