C43 Triangle Area Rural Planning Organization FIVE YEAR PLANNING PROGRAM AND CALENDAR Program Description for July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2013 As part of developing an annual planning work program, the Rural Transportation Planning Organization is required to develop a five-year calendar that identifies key goals and establishes deadlines for the timely completion of projects. Goals, objectives and individual work tasks are separated into the categories used in the Planning Work Program. Goal To establish and maintain a full range of GIS data layers in order to produce maps and data analysis products in support of transportation planning projects within the RPO area. Work Tasks • Maintain and enhance available GIS data sets (ongoing) • Analyze AADT count locations resulting in recommendations for new count locations (ongoing) • Coordinate with transit service providers to develop maps of transit routes within the RPO area (FY 08-09 Through FY 09-10) • Maintain CIS files for existing transportation plans and establish GIS files for proposed Comprehensive Transportation Plans (FY 08-09 Through FY 10-11) • Produce and maintain regional transportation plan (FY 08-09 Through FY 10-11) • Maintain GIS files for bicycle and pedestrian routes, produce and distribute maps (ongoing) • Establish GIS files for Census 2000 data (ongoing) • Develop a process for updating residential unit data within the RPO counties (ongoing) • Inventory Environmental and Air Quality Data associated with any ozone regulatory requirements (FY 08-09 Through FY 12-13) • Assemble existing and future land use data in GIS files (FY 08-09 Through FY 10-11) • Maintain GIS files for accident data - all four counties (ongoing) • Maintain GIS files for bridge data - all four counties (ongoing) • Assemble environmental data in GIS files, produce and distribute maps (FY 08-09 Through FY 12-13) Outcomes Production of maps and data to assist decision-makers as they: • Identity functional inadequacies of existing transportation facilities • Identify and prioritize local transportation planning projects • Analyze transportation issues • Identify key transportation corridors for future studies • Identify and prioritize STIP project needs Triangle Area Rural Planning Organization 1 Five Year Planning Calendar
